Kansai University in Japan and RMMC-MI engaged in a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) program that connected selected RMMC-MI students from the BSTM, BSEd-English, and BAELS programs with Kansai University's IELTS and TOEFL students from April 17 to May 9, 2025. The program facilitated intercultural collaboration while addressing issues related to sustainable tourism in both countries.
Faculty representatives John Loren Jacolo of RMMC-MI and Amy Ishida of Kansai University guided the sessions, during which students were grouped to critically examined tourism challenges and exchanged perspectives shaped by their respective cultural and academic contexts. Through a series of online meetings, they broadened their understanding of sustainability in tourism.
The program culminated in the production of advocacy videos, where students presented innovative, research-informed solutions to tourism issues, demonstrating not only their grasp of the subject but also their capacity for global collaboration and digital communication.
